Van Stone Mine N. Pit Lake dam removal: Comment period 8/21-10/24/25
The Washington Department of Ecology is beginning work to lower the water level in North Pit Lake at the Van Stone Mine. The cleanup site is 24 miles northeast of Colville off Van Stone Road in the Onion Creek watershed. The goal of this part of the cleanup is to lower the spillway to prevent dam failure at North Pit Lake. We invite your comments on the plans for lowering the water level and the dam spillway.
After the comment period closes, Ecology will review and respond to comments. We will send our response to comments document to anyone who provided contact information, and it will be posted online.
