Sudden Valley Resort
The Department of Ecology is proposing to remove the Sudden Valley Resort cleanup Site (Site) from the Hazardous Sites List. The site is located at 2650 Lake Louise Road, Bellingham, WA 98229. The property is part of the Sudden Valley residential and recreational community that was developed during the 1970s. The Site is located on a property known as Area Z. Area Z is used for material storage, equipment maintenance, and an underground sewer lift station. The property is zoned Rural 5-Acres (R5A) and is near Beaver Creek.
In 2009, Ecology completed a Site Hazard Assessment (SHA) on the Site. The result was a raking of “5” on a scale of 1 to 5, where “1” represents the highest risk and “5” represents the lowest risk. The SHA ranking estimates the potential threat to human health and the environment relative to other sites in Washington State.
Ecology determined that the cleanup actions at the site now meet state cleanup standards. Ecology is proposing to remove the Site from the Hazardous Sites List (HSL).
